Taking office at age 29, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress.
The MIT Lincoln Laboratory named the asteroid 23238 Ocasio-Cortez after her when she was a senior in high school in recognition of her second-place finish in the 2007 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Ocasio-Cortez was named the 2017 National Hispanic Institute Person of the Year by Ernesto Nieto. In 2019, Ocasio-Cortez received the Adelle Foley Award. She was named as one of 2019 BBC 100 Women.
AOC discussed her Catholic faith and its impact on her life and her campaign for criminal justice reform in an article she wrote for America, the magazine of the Jesuit order of the United States.
During the COVID-19 pandemic she achieved a League of Legends rank of Silver.
She traveled, by car, across America, after the 2016 election, visiting places such as Flint, Michigan and Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota, speaking to people affected by the Flint water crisis and the Dakota Access Pipeline. It was this that helped her realize it didn't take being rich to run for office.
In her run for Congress she was endorsed by Black Lives Matter, MoveOn, Democracy For America, President Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders and most progressive groups.
After she beat Crowley, he stayed on the ballot, as the nominee of the Working Families Party and yet, both endorsed her....a little odd. 🙂
AOC was one of the subjects of the 2018 Michael Moore documentary Fahrenheit 11/9; it chronicled her primary campaign.

Donald Trump said AOC is not very smart. He probably does not know what summa cum laude means. (It means she is very very smart.) He probably doesn't know all the incredible things she has done and at such a young age and with NO FAMILY MONEY TO HELP. ....because he does not care enough about other people to read about her....oh yeah and he can't read.
